ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC DT) -- A Rochester police officer was hurt in a late night car accident over the weekend.
Around 10 p.m. Saturday, Officer Gregory Marx was responding to an emergency call and heading north on Broadway.
Police say at the 16th Street intersection, a vehicle collided with the squad.
An ambulance took the Officer Marx to St. Marys Hospital with minor injuries; the other driver, Lauren Skogerbo, also had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital by private transport.
Both have since been treated and released --- the officer will return to active duty.
"Officers, when responding to emergency calls, are exempt from certain traffic laws, speed, red lights, things of that nature," says John Sherwin from the Rochester Police Department. "They are still required to drive with due regard for the safety of others and that's what our accident investigation will determine, based on the data that's analyzed."
Officer Marx had been driving with his lights and sirens on.
No charges have been filed against either party.
The accident is under investigation.
