ORONOCO, Minn. (KTTC-DT) -- A level three sex offender from Oronoco has been arrested in Belize.
Deputies say Robert Saterdalen, 71, is accused of sexually assaulting minors and possessing child pornography.
Saterdalen had completed his sex offender treatment and was no longer under probation in Olmsted County, but because he is classified as a level three sex offender, he must register his address until 2012.
The Olmsted County Sheriff's Department says it had a prior arrangement with Saterdalen that he would contact the office whenever he left and came back from Belize, as well as send postcards from the different cities he visited since he didn't have an address there.
Now Saterdalen admits he did violate his registration requirements by purchasing a house in Belize about six years ago.
Saterdalen has waved extradition and is currently at the Harris County Jail in Houston, Texas. He will be back in Olmsted County within 10 days.
Sgt. Behrns says Saterdalen is facing significant jail time and possible civil commitment.
