Jonathan joined the KTTC News Team as Weekend Meteorologist in February 2011. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he graduated from Penn Hills High School in 2006. He then graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 2010 with his Bachelor of Science in Meteorology.
Jonathan became interested in the weather because he was scared of it at a young age. The "beeping" noise on The Weather Channel during a severe thunderstorm warning was enough to send him running for cover. The fear of thunderstorms got him wondering what was really going on…besides the angels bowling. Between that curiosity and tracking Hurricane Bonnie for a friend in elementary school, he knew right away that being a meteorologist was the right career path for him.
At Penn State he was a part of the Campus Weather Service. He (and some of his best friends) would wake up early every Thursday morning for their shift and put together a forecast and present it on the organizations website. Last summer, Jonathan interned at WTAE, the ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh. Up until this job at KTTC it was the greatest experience of his life. He will always cherish everything he learned and all of the advice given to him by the three meteorologists he interned under.
Jonathan spends his extra time watching sports and is a die-hard Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, and of course Nittany Lions fan!! He has no problem with rooting for the Vikings as his second NFL team since they hate the Green Bay Packers with a passion. He also enjoys playing video games with his two younger brothers, Ryan and Matt who live back in Pittsburgh with his mom and dad. Watching movies is another hobby of his, not surprisingly twister is one of his favorites, but nothing beats a good scary movie!
