April sentencing in Iowa slaughterhouse case

Associated Press - March 18, 2010 8:14 AM ET

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - A former manager of an Iowa kosher slaughterhouse will be sentenced next month on federal fraud charges.

An April 28 sentencing was set on Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids.

Sholom Rubashkin was convicted on 86 counts of bank fraud and other charges in November.

The conviction stemmed from a massive immigration raid at the Agriprocessors meatpacking plant in Postville in May 2008. Hundreds of illegal immigrants were arrested and convicted.
