EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -- The Minnesota Vikings have hired a former Golden Gopher to be their new assistant defensive backs coach.
Matt Sheldon was hired on Monday. He spent the previous four seasons coaching linebackers with the Buffalo Bills. He also was an assistant coach with the St. Louis Rams from 2001-05.
The native of Wisconsin was a defensive back with the University of Minnesota. He replaces Derek Mason, who left to take a job with Stanford.
