WOODBURY, Minn. (AP) -- A Woodbury man is in custody in Minnesota, suspected in the killing of his half-sister in California 22 years ago.
The 38-year-old man is being questioned by police in Buena Park, Calif., in connection with the 1988 death of 18-year-old Gehmine Chandler. Authorities say the teen was found strangled in her bedroom.
Buena Park police Sgt. William Kohanek tells the St. Paul Pioneer Press that no arrests were made at the time of her death, but many interviews were conducted. An investigator picked up the file months ago and was led to the Minnesota man.
Kohanek says when Buena Park investigators are done questioning the man, they'll determine whether there's enough evidence to issue an arrest warrant and extradite him to California.
