ROCHESTER (KTTC-DT) -- An intruder held a woman and then a man at gunpoint in their own home in southeast Rochester on Tuesday evening before making off with cash and a PlayStation 3 video game system.
Rochester police are hunting for two men who were involved in the home invasion in the 1800 block of 2nd Avenue SE, along with a woman who may have been driving a getaway car.
Police Lt. Dan Muyres says a series of crimes began when a man visiting the home of a friend was first robbed by the two men. Lt. Muyres described them as black males wearing black coats and black pants, about 6' tall, in their 20's. He said one had a goatee. Before the robbery they had been standing beside a white Pontiac sedan, possibly a Grand Prix or Bonneville, outside the home. One of the men waved a gun and forced the visitor inside an open garage, where he stole his wallet, containing about $30 cash.
Lt. Muyres says the gunman then handed the weapon to his partner while he took off a screen and crawled inside a window of the home. A couple living at the home were both asleep inside, and the noise of the intruder awakened the woman, who confronted him in her son's bedroom. She ran to wake up her husband, who then found the gunman making off with the PS3 gaming system. The intruder crawled back out the window and the men fled.
No one was hurt in what police are considering a robbery/burglary/home invasion. They ask if you have any clues to the identity or whereabouts of the men to call the KTTC Safe City Tipline at (507) 328-6888.
