DENVER (AP) - A man convicted in North Dakota for impersonating a lawyer has pleaded not guilty to similar charges in Colorado.
Federal prosecutors say Howard O. Kieffer, of Duluth, Minn., falsely said on the Internet that he had a law degree.
Kieffer pleaded not guilty to wire fraud, making a false statement and contempt during a brief hearing in federal court in Denver on Wednesday.
He's currently serving a 51-month sentence for his North Dakota conviction.
1 of Kieffer's former clients, Aspen resident Gwen Bergman, was convicted last year of hiring someone to try to kill her former husband. She is appealing her case based on Kieffer's conviction in North Dakota.
