IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - A former human resources employee at a Postville kosher slaughterhouse has been sentenced to two years of probation after she pleaded guilty to involvement with hiring illegal immigrants.
Judge Linda Reade sentenced former Agriprocessors, Inc., employee Laura Althouse on Thursday. She had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to harbor undocumented immigrants for financial gain. A second charge of aiding and abetting identity theft was dropped in May.
The charges against Althouse follow an immigration raid at the Agriprocessors plant in May 2008 in which 389 workers were arrested.
