Favre remembers Marshall playing with the Purple People EatersEDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -- Brett Favre is on the verge of another durability record.
Minnesota's 40-year-old quarterback will match former Vikings defensive lineman Jim Marshall with his 282nd consecutive game played, by participating this Sunday against the Chicago Bears.
That's an NFL record for non-kickers.
Favre passed Marshall's unofficial record of 270 consecutive games started earlier this season. He has started 279 straight.
Favre remembers watching Marshall play with the Purple People Eaters in the 1970s, and says he's humbled to be mentioned "in the same breath" with him. He also says he's honored teams still want him to play at his age. He cites God's blessings and being determined, lucky and "hard-headed" as factors in his durability.
