MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Twins have added six prospects to their 40-man major league roster, including third baseman Danny Valencia and right-handed pitcher Deolis Guerra (day-oh-LEECE' GAIR'-uh).
Friday was the deadline for filling out the 40-man roster, for the purpose of protecting prospects in the "Rule 5" draft next month at the winter meetings. Infielder Estarlin De Los Santos and right-handers Alex Burnett, Loek Van Mil and Rob Delany were also added.
The 25-year-old Valencia finished at AAA Rochester last season, batting .286 with seven homers and 41 RBIs in 71 games. He is soon expected to have a chance to be the Twins' third baseman, whether in 2010 or 2011.
Guerra came in the Johan Santana trade with the New York Mets. He finished last year at AA New Britain.
