EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -- Percy Harvin's rookie season is off to a strong start for the Minnesota Vikings.
The first-round draft pick from Florida has five touchdowns in eight games, two of them coming on kickoff returns. The Vikings like Harvin's route-running instincts. He has shown an ability to adjust on the fly, and worked well with veteran quarterback Brett Favre's suggestions about where to be when he throws the ball.
Harvin came to the NFL as a flashy speedster, but he has also shown a knack for toughness. He typically takes kickoffs right up the middle, and he has made several difficult catches in tight coverage.
The Vikings host Detroit this Sunday. Harvin had a touchdown reception in the win over the Lions in September.
