Benjamin Franklin exhibit to open at Minnesota History Center

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Visitors to the Minnesota History Center will soon have a chance to learn more about founding father Benjamin Franklin.

"Benjamin Franklin: In Search of a Better World" opens at the History Center in St. Paul on Nov. 27, the day after Thanksgiving. It runs through July 4, 2010.

The exhibit covers Franklin's life from a teenage runaway to a statesman and scientist famous for his experiment with a key, a kite and lightning.

The Bakken Museum in Minneapolis developed the "Electricity Party" area, where visitors can create static electricity to make hair stand up.

The exhibit originally was developed to celebrate the 300th anniversary of Franklin's birth in 2006 and was redesigned by the Minnesota Historical Society. It's presented by Xcel Energy.
