Associated Press - November 6, 2009 8:34 AM ET

LE MARS, Iowa (AP) - A northwest Iowa man has been sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for the prescription drug overdose death of another man.

Stuart Barton, of Sioux City, was sentenced on Thursday in Plymouth County District Court. Court records show he pleaded guilty to two counts of delivery of methadone.

Barton and Justin Bringman, of Akron, were arrested in May in the death of Nicholas Clay, also of Akron.

Clay died last January of a prescription drug overdose. Investigators determined the medication was illegally obtained.

Bringman pleaded guilty in August to involuntary manslaughter and delivery of a controlled substance. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
