ROCHESTER (KTTC-DT)-- Along side the road it's not unusual seeing signs that read "free" alerting people to a used air conditioner, or perhaps an old bed that's being given away. But along side one road in Rochester, the sign refers to an entire house that's yours for the taking.
"Some people don't understand, they say, what do you mean by free house? Can I move into it today? And I tell them they can move into it, they just have to get it out of here," says owner Mitch Augeson.
There is one catch, eventhough the house is free, you have to pay to have the home moved off of the property. A move that can cost up to $20,000.
Mitch bought the property six months ago. He plans on turning the old horse barn into a flea market and needs the lot where the house currenlty sits for extra parking. So, instead of knocking the old 800 square foot home down, he come up with a better idea.
"I was putting some stuff on craiglist and I thought well, let's try the house," he says.
While it's not exactly a nice victorian or log cabin. A free house is a free house, and has been attracting a great deal of attention.
"It's a sturdy, strong house all it needs is some lipstick and some makeup but other than that it'd a great little cabin," Augeston notes.
