Nine Rochester area businesses honored for workplace flexibility

ROCHESTER (KTTC-TV) -- Nine area businesses are being honored for their efforts to create workplace flexibility by the Rochester Chamber of Commerce.

These businesses are being given 2009 Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility:

Cardinal of Minnesota, Ltd. (2-year winner)
Custom Alarm/Custom Communications, Inc. (2-year winner)
First Alliance Credit Union (2-year winner)
Rochester Area Family YMCA
Rochester Community and Technical College (2008 honorable mention)
Senior Citizens Services, Inc.
Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency
United Way of Olmsted County (2008 honorable mention)
Venture Computer Systems (2-year winner)

Express Employment Professionals was given an Honorable Mention.

The awards will be given out in a ceremony on August 4th in Rochester at the International Event Center.

In a statement to reporters, a chamber spokesperson explained that this is an honor upholding workplace flexibility "as a strategy to increase workplace effectiveness and yield positive business results."
