ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC-DT) -- Democrats continue to speak out about Governor Tim Pawlenty's plan to trim $2.7 million from the state budget.
Minnesota DFL gubernatorial candidate Matt Entenza is traveling the state and made a stop in Rochester Wednesday morning.
Entenza talked about Governor Pawlenty's unallotments by focusing on how the cuts could force reductions in police, firefighters, snowplowing and library staff even if local taxes go up.
He provided numbers from the nonpartisan Minnesota State House Research department.
They show Minnesota's property taxes are likely to increase 2.9% - 5.2% depending on what region of the state you live in. Some parts of the state could see increases of more than 10%.
Entenza grew up in Worthington and represented St. Paul in the legislature for 12 years, including three years as House Minority Leader.
Governor Pawlenty meets Thursday with the Legislative Advisory Council to discuss his proposal.
