Twins invest in Pineda, banking he'll return to dominate

The Minnesota Twins signed former New York Yankees right-hander Michael Pineda to a two-year, $10 million contact on Wednesday, their first signing of the offseason. A wrinkle to this signing, however, is that Pineda is currently recovering from Tommy John surgery and may not return until late in the 2018 season if at all, as he had the procedure on his right UCL on July 18, 2017, putting the earliest he can return on July 18, 2018.
